Design story

ArchZen™ draws on a movement everybody already makes: the instinctive arch over the back of a chair after hours of sitting. It is inspired by yoga-prop wedges and bolsters — fixed shapes for resting over — and adds what a fixed prop cannot: adjustable height, gentle warmth, and a motor to do the propping.

Materials & details

A contoured support platform in dark gray rises on a motorized base, with the heating element and vibration motor built into the contact surface. It runs from mains power. Exact height settings, surface temperatures and timer behavior have not been published by the supplier, so we leave those numbers off this page rather than approximate them.

How to use

Place ArchZen™ on a firm, flat surface — the floor is ideal — and lie back with your lower back centered over the platform and knees bent. Start at the lowest height with short sessions of five to ten minutes, and only raise the height once a level feels easy and pleasant. Add warmth or vibration if you like; heated surfaces should feel comfortably warm, never hot — switch the heat off if it becomes too much. Come up slowly: roll to your side first rather than sitting straight up. Not intended for use over broken or irritated skin.

Care & maintenance

Unplug before cleaning and wipe the surface with a soft, lightly damp cloth; let it dry before the next session. Do not kink the cable or rest heavy items on the platform between uses, and store it flat.

How do I start?

A firm surface works well — on a soft mattress the base sinks, and the arch you feel is shallower than the setting suggests. The floor or a firm rug is the honest setup.
